Learning Math without counting on fingers

Counting on fingers is the most common strategy used by children to support their early math development. Yet children have trouble counting larger number with their fingers, or their fine motor control is not sufficient for finger counting.

The Block Calculator App is designed to help children use Block to replace fingers to visualize the number, so that they can easily master addition and subtraction.

Three key modules:

1- Block Calculator-Learn addition and subtraction by direct counting number of blocks automatically generated from the numbers

2 - Matching game - children match the addition/subtraction question with the answer so that they can naturally learn about different combination of numbers which makes up a target number within 20. With repeated exposure they can easily memorize the answer of basic addition/subtraction and do not have to count on fingers anymore.

3 – Time Limited Addition and Subtraction Game – calculate as much as possible within a time limit to test the children's learning progress.

Finally, please note that there are three different levels of difficulty for selection (Level 1/2/3) on the main page for children to learn from step-by-step.
